During the Iraq War of the 2000s (decade), both the Insurgency and the Coalition forces committed various massacres and abuses. This list currently covers only notable events or events in which civilians or prisoners were killed in mass; far more numerous massacres perpatrated by insurgents have occurred. It is unclear who was responsible although Al-Qaeda is suspected. *On April 4, 2010 Insurgents dressed as US and Iraqi soldiers killed 25 people including 5 women in a village south of Baghdad. They were linked to the Awakening movement. They were hand cuffed and shot in the head or chest. 7 were found alive in handcuffs.
